CEO Kate Popiel nominated for Alberta Women Entrepreneur Award (2020)

Our very own Kate Popiel, founder of What’s the Deal?, was nominated for the 2020 Alberta Women Entrepreneur (AWE) Award alongside many other incredible women in Alberta! Kate graduated in 2014 with a degree in Fashion Business from Humber College with honours and distinction. Using her passion for entrepreneurship and knowledge of the restaurant industry, she formulated her app, What’s the Deal?. Kate’s business education and 15 years of restaurant experience have allowed her to innovate and uplift the restaurant industry.

Alberta Women Entrepreneurs believes in female entrepreneurship and provides tools and resources to help women succeed. AWE connects women to capital, training and workshops, business advising, and mentorship opportunities.

The AWE awards have been celebrating exceptional women since 2012. Nominees for this award have built a business in Alberta and significantly impacted the economy and community. AWE acknowledges all nominees as inspirational leaders and role models for women in business.
